Year 3 travel back in time at the London Transport Museum

Posted: 7th October 2018

On the morning of October 4th 2018, Year 3 embarked on a journey to the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden. We took the tube to Kings Cross and then switched over onto the Piccadilly Line. Three stops later we arrived in Covent Garden.

We had a chance to settle in first and have a snack. We then had a walk around before our session at 11:30am. We settled in to the ‘Transportarium’ where we were going to learn about the ‘World’s First Underground.’ We did activities about the history and the founding engineers. We also learnt about the construction and what it took to make large tubes under the ground! The very last thing we learnt about were some of the materials that were used in the construction. Can you believe that the first tube system connected Paddington in the west, central Kings Cross and Farringdon in the east?

We had a great time looking at all of the old buses and trains. We’ll never look at the tube system again in the same way! What a great day!
