During the first half term Year 5 were reading an eBook called Animals on the Move in their English lessons. The book is an information text about some of the most impressive animal migrations that take place on our planet. The class enjoyed learning about wildebeest, humpback whales, salmon and monarch butterflies. Towards the end of the book there were pages which briefly touched on other migrations which take place on land and at sea. The class took a keen interest in a rather unusual creature: the spiny lobster. Luckily the creators of Animals on the Move were looking for more content. Year 5 took on the challenge of researching the migration of spiny lobsters and worked together in pairs in order to create a new page for the book.
In order to add an extra level of excitement, Miss Thompson made the task a competition. It was very difficult to judge as each of the pages were truly spectacular. The proud runners up were Anish and Shivesh. Bravo! But the winners were chosen because of their excellent level of detail. Their illustrations and page layout were truly likeable to that of the original.
